A new year for CEPE members !


The European Confederation of Paint, Printing Ink and Artists' Colours Manufacturers Associations (CEPE) brings together about 85% of the European paints, printing inks and artists’ colours industry. Together this represents a value of around 17 billion €. In total 120.000 people are directly employed in this industry.


RAHN-Group celebrates 75 years in business


Hans Rahn founded RAHN AG in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1940. RAHN AG and its six subsidiaries now have a total workforce of 114 and achieve annual sales of some 120 million Swiss francs. As a technology-oriented company, the group provides customers in around 50 countries all over the world with natural and synthetic raw materials and services for industries including coatings, cosmetics and foodstuffs.

H.B. Fuller acquires Continental Products Ltd


H.B. Fuller Company has announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase Continental Products Limited, a provider of industrial adhesives in East and Central Africa. This business will generate approximately 2.3 million in revenue for the 2014 fiscal year.

PPG into negotiations to acquire Revocoat


PPG Industries has announced that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with the Axson Group to acquire Revocoat, a global supplier of sealants, adhesives and damper products for the automotive industry. PPG expects the transaction to close in the first quarter of 2015.

DSM to sell DSM Synres to Standard Investment


Royal DSM has reached an agreement with Standard Investment for the sale of DSM Synres. DSM Synres produces solvent-borne alkyd and acrylic coating resins at its site in Hoek van Holland, The Netherlands, for the global coatings, adhesives and graphic arts markets. The company has sales of approximately €50 million with around 80 employees. Under the new ownership, Synres will continue to focus on solvent-borne coating resins for the global market.

Hempel acquires Dutch coatings manufacturer Schaepman's


Hempel announced that it has acquired Schaepman's Lakfabrieken B.V, a leading Dutch supplier of specialised industrial, protective and decorative coatings. With the acquisition, Hempel will increase its presence in the protective and industrial coatings markets. The acquisition is part of Hempel's 5-year growth strategy and supports its goal of becoming one of the world's top-10 largest coatings suppliers by the end of 2015. With the acquisition, Hempel takes a step towards achieving its growth ambition: to increase its presence in the protective and industrial coatings markets.

Sartorius sells its Industrial Technologies Division to Minebea


Sartorius is selling its Industrial Technologies Division (Intec) to the Japanese Minebea Co., Ltd. and their partner, the Development Bank of Japan Inc. The respective contract was signed today. The contractual parties agreed on a sales price of 7.5 multiple on the division's 2014 operating EBITDA. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory clearance by the antitrust authorities, and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015. By selling the Intec Division to Minebea, Sartorius focus on their two core activities in Bioprocess and Laboratory.
